Profile

melanie anderson
Melanie fell in love with dance at an early age while taking acrobatic dance, ballet, jazz, lyrical jazz, and modern dance at her hometown dance studio in northern Michigan. During high school, she taught ballet to children ages 4-12 at a local church and performed on her high school dance team.

While earning her Bachelor of Business Administration, Melanie studied ballet, jazz, and modern dance with the Grand Valley State University dance department, under director Jefferson Baum. She choreographed and danced for GVSU Dance Troupe and also performed with Higher Ground Dance Company.

After earning her Master of Science in Information from University of Michigan, Melanie moved to the Bay Area and was fortunate to find Ariel Dance Productions, where she has danced since 2008.

Melanie was recently diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip and underwent a pelvic osteotomy to correct the deformity. Recovering from major surgery inspired Melanie to focus on gentle conditioning of the body and on instilling proper technique to prevent injuries.
