Ballet
Class Description
Ballet
(teen/adult)

Drill fundamental ballet exercises without the pressure of learning complicated choreography. Work on strengthening and stretching all muscle groups to achieve a dancer’s body and ballet lines. Great for beginning dancers who want to learn the basics and develop proper ballet form. Also useful for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to focus on their technique.

Class format includes warm up and quick stretch, technique drills, floor work, stretching, break down a difficult ballet step and cool down.

Pre-Ballet
(3-6 yrs)

Through the structure of the class, children are supported in learning sequencing, turn-taking, problem-solving skills, impulse control, and cooperation. Your child will learn to understand and reproduce rhythm, be introduced to ballet technique explore creativity and imagination, and gain body and spatial awareness.
Wear: Girls should wear leotard (any style/any color) and tights, ballet shoes. Boys should wear fitted t-shirt and sweat pants or play pants and ballet shoes.

Ballet
(9-12 yrs)

A graceful classical dance form, ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. Correct body alignment and placement is emphasized.
Wear: Girls should wear leotard (any style/any color) and tights, ballet shoes. Boys should wear fatted t-shirt and sweat pants or play pants and ballet shoes.

Creative Movement
(3-6 yrs)

This class is designed to expand your child's imagination along with developing motor skills in a structured environment. We will skip, chase, leap, gallop, skate, hop, jump while we use our creative minds to go on exciting adventures. Your child will also learn the basic steps of ballet and tumbling at the end of class. This class is a wonderful introduction for the young student to a basic classroom structure in a fun and nurturing environment.
Wear: Girls and Boys should wear any comfortable play clothes and go barefoot.

BELLY DANCE

Belly Dance

Beginning Belly Dance - Technique & Drills, Tuesday, 7:45 pm-9:00 pm

This class will introduce students to the beautiful and elegant art form of Middle Eastern belly dance while building strength, flexibility and great muscle control. The class focuses on building basic belly dance vocabulary. Students will learn the proper posture, isolation techniques, essential moves and traveling steps, and simple dance combinations. Each class includes cardio and stretch warm-up and lots of drills - a good workout guaranteed!

Intermediate Belly Dance - Choreography & Performance, Tuesday, 9:00 pm-10:15 pm

This class offers more challenge to students who already feel comfortable with belly dance essentials. Students are introduced to more difficult techniques, transitions between movements, layering, complex dance combinations and choreographies, props. Musical interpretation and performance skills will be taught as well. Students are encouraged to participate in group performance projects!

Bollywood dance has been India's most entertaining and popular form of dance for several decades. It mashes in a unique blend of dances from different parts of the country including Indian folk, classical and is also inspired from western dance forms. Typical Bollywood dances are on songs from popular Hindi (Indian) movies.

B-boy/B-girl (Break dancing) is an athletic dance form which uses your whole body. You will learn the history and origins of breaking, technique, top rocks, footwork, transitions, freezes and most importantly, how to rock a beat. If possible, bring knee pads, hats/beanies, elbow pads.

CONTEMPORARY, CONTEMPORARY BALLET
Class Description
Contemporary Dance
(hip hop)
Contemporary Dance fuses ballet, modern dance and it draws from other philosophies of movement that are outside the realm of classical dance technique. This style can be danced to almost any type of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.
Beginning-Intermediate Contemporary Ballet
(teen/adult)
Contemporary ballet is a form of dance influenced by both ballet and modern dance. It takes its technique from classical ballet, although it permits a greater range of movement that may not adhere to the strict body lines set forth by schools of ballet technique. Many of its concepts come from the ideas and innovations of modern dance including floor work, balletic movements and turn-in of the legs.

Bolly Hop

BollyHop is a fusion dance class that blends the urban and Western moves of Hip Hop dance with the Eastern influences of Bollywood movements. Bollywood. This fusion dance is sure to get your energy levels on a new high!

This class is designed for dancers with no prior experience and it includes a warm-up, hip hop progressions, and a short routine . The focus is placed mostly on style and loosely on technique.

Learn to dance like you see in the latest. music video clips. Students will learn technique, style and choreographed routine geared toward a dance concert. Selected dancers will be invited to perform in the Ariel Dance Productions' annual concert.

Intermediate Hip Hop
(teen/adult)
A challenging Funk for your feet. The class covers street dance moves such as: hip hop, popping, locking, hitting, jamming to name a few. Don't be surprised if you find yourself being the center of attention the next time you are groovin' on the dance floor at your favorite club.

Jazz, MUSICAL THEATRE, THEAtrical jazz

Jazz dance is a fun and energetic style. The class includes a warm-up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, followed by across the floor moves to work on turns, leaps, kicks and jumps. Class ends with a short combination

Beginning-Intermediate Jazz
(teen/adult)
This class is for students with some background in dance, although not necessarily experience in jazz. Students will continue to work on technique, balance, strength, coordination, jumps, turns, and short combinations.
Intermediate Jazz
(teen/adult)

This is a high-energy class that focuses on warm-up, across the floor work, multiple turns, and complex dance combinations: Afro Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Traditional styles. Students can expect fun, high energy music, experienced teacher and a great workout!

Lyrical Jazz
(teen/adult)

Lyrical dance style draws from ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance. This dance style dance is expressive, subtle, dynamic, and it focuses on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. It is a combination of intricate, highly technical, and pedestrian/naturalistic moves. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals as well as rich instrumental portions of a pop song.

Musical Theatre Basics (7-11 yrs)

Learn all the basics of being a musical theater performer! Learn fun acting scenes, acting games, dancing and singing. This is a class for young adults just beginning to develop their acting skills, projecting techniques, memorization capabilities, and singing projection.

Musical Theatre
(teen/adult)

This performance-oriented class is for those interested in improving stage presence, singing skills, and movement/dance skills. Adult students work on excerpts from standard musical theater repertoire. No prior experience is required.

Theatrical Jazz
(teen/adult)

This high-energy class trains students in acting for the stage and jazz dance technique to communicate a story to the audience. The structure includes warm-up, progressions (across the floor), skill building, drills and center work with an emphasis on staying in character. Frequently inspired by blending pop-culture with award winning musicals and movies of the past, students may be exposed to a combination of dance styles such as hip-hop, show cheer and vaudeville. Students can expect fun, upbeat music, an experienced teacher and entertainment driven choreography.

TAP
Class Description

Beginning/Intermediate Tap (teen/adult)

Intermediate tap dance technique and choreography class will focus more on intricate footwork, help tap dancers develop speed, clarity, greater showmanship and beautiful sound quality.  Designed to refine existing tap skills this class puts the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Students will also enjoy learning choreography that blends a variety of tap styles such as Stomp, Showboat, Musical Theatre and Rhythmic.

TUMBLING

Tumbling

(9-12 yrs)

Dancers today need to know how to tumble, and of course for those interested in cheerleading, tumbling skills are essential. Tumbling is a great way to build flexibility & strength while learning floor gymnastics skills! Class will be tailored to age and ability level to help each student accelerate at their own pace.

Ages 6-9 will learn bear walk, crab walk, walk backwards, hop on one foot, headstand, forward/backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, back walkovers, and round offs. Kids will also learn body and spatial awareness.

Ages 9-12 will learn cartwheels, headstands, handstands, backbends, handstands, log/forward/backward/front straddle/back straddle rolls, bridges, bridge kick overs, back bends, cartwheels, round offs and more.

Wear: Girls should wear leotard, footless tights. Shorts are optional. Hair securely tied back. Boys should wear gym shorts or sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jeans or jewelry. All students must have bare feet.
