A.B.S. - Abs, back and stretch
Class Description
Abs This gut-wrenching workout focuses on the body’s core (abdomen, butt, back, and gluteals), and thighs. Exercises emphasizing proper form and technique are used to promote core strength, stability, tone, and definition. Weights, exercise tubes, and balls are the tools used to get your body ready for the holidays and beyond. Come prepared to work hard and feel strong! The last 10 minutes will be devoted to flexibility training. All fitness levels welcome. Please bring a mat, a pair of dumbells, and water. Please wear comfortable workout attire/athletic shoes.

ARABIAN NIGHTS - DANCEs OF THE EAST
Class Description
Arabian Nights - /Dance of the East Enter the magical world of “1001 Nights” and bring the fairy tale stories to life. You’ll learn the exotic culture and dances of ancient Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Persia. Lose yourself in the intoxicating, swirling dances of the Arabian gypsies. Step inside a Pharoah’s dream and learn the sensuous dance of the veils. Envision youself as the Queen or Sultan dancing with a sword. Weave a spell of enchantment by playing the instruments of the ancient Gods and Goddesses of the East such as finger cymbals and bells.

In this class, you’ll be introduced to the beautiful and elegant art form of Middle Eastern dances such as Belly Dance/Tribal Belly Dance, Egyptian (both ancient and modern), Turkish, Gypsy and Modern/Folk Persian. You will develop strength, proper posture, and flexibility through various dance forms including ballet, folk, and belly dance. As the class progresses, appropriate props will be introduced and students will learn a structured choreography. Students will occasionally have the opportunity to have free dance times and will have the opportunity to create their own dance choreography and show it to class.

AFRO-BRAZILIAN
Class Description
Beginning Afro-Brazilian Time for an aerobic challenge? Cristina will get you moving while introducing the basics of Afro-Brazilian Dance with visualization and warm-up exercises, creative movement, rhythm, and music. She will provide a rigorous cardiovascular workout and students will explore the arts and tradition of Brazilian beats and have a lot of fun in the process. Afro-Brazilian Dance is a great body builder. It improves flexibility, enhances strength, sharpens the mind-muscle link and mental focus. Every single Afro-Dance movement involves the whole body!

This class is for anyone just beginning to learn Samba to more advanced dancers interested in performing. Cristina teaches a wide variety of Samba from the old traditional Samba of the Kabolo Indians, to the traditional Afoxe style of Bahia, to the modern Carnival style dances being performed in Brazil today. She returns to Brazil at least twice a year to keep current on the latest dance steps and music, but she is dedicated to preserving and carrying on the traditional old-style sambas. These classes are lively, friendly, fast. and the music is always HOT! Wear dance or exercise attire; jazz shoes or ballet shoes are recommended.

Ballet
Class Description
Beginning Ballet This class, intended for the "true" beginner, begins with basic positions at barre and center and progresses to movements across the floor. These classes are for the adult student with no previous dance experience. It is an introduction to basic skills with emphasis on strength, flexibility, and musicality.
Beginning/Intermediate Ballet A basic technical class with a focus on the fundamentals of ballet, line, etiquette, musicality, and how the classical balletic positions of the body will influence the dancer at all levels of their training. All levels are invited because it can be a nice "warm-up" for the int/adv dancers.

BELLY DANCE
Class Description
Belly Dance Want to shake it like Shakira? Check out Maria's Beginning Belly Dance class on Tuesday at 8:45 pm. This class will introduce students to the beautiful and elegant art form of Middle Eastern belly dance while building strength, flexibility and great muscle control. Students will learn the proper posture, isolation technique, belly dance steps and moves, and choreographies. Each class also includes cardio and stretch warm-up, drills and dance combinations - a good workout guaranteed!

The class focuses on technique, although musical interpretation and performance skills will be taught as well. As a class progresses, finger cymbals, veil and other props will be introduced. Great way to stay in shape and gain self-confidence, in a relaxed and fun environment!
Tribal Fusion
Belly Dance
Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is a style of Belly Dance that combines folkloric and contemporary dance moves from the West and Middle East. In this class you will experience basic techniques, various turns, snaky moves, and routines performed to various tribal and world music as well as practicing expression and improvisations skills. Props like swords, veils, scarves and canes will be incorporated. This class is a low-impact fitness class that will help you develop strength and flexibility while celebrating beauty and femininity. Bring a hip scarf if you have one.

Class Description
Breakdance

Breakdance is an athletic dance form which uses a great deal of floor work. The movements and weight changes are often supported by the arms. Also it includes poppin', lockin', and works on top rock, bottom rock, techs and power moves.

Class Description
Broadway Jazz

This class offers a Broadway style, Fosse-inspired routine reminiscent of the movie "Chicago" that incorporates slinky moves, quick isolations, rolling shoulders, and sleek, thrusting movements.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Class Description
Contemporaty Dance A Martha Graham based class to strengthen the body and build endurance for the mind and spirit of the dancer. With a focus on time, space, rhythm, and partnering skills (the give and take of body weight from one dancer to another), we explore abstract gestures and organic movement through choreographic phrasing. An opportunity for the dancer to engage their technical skills and their creativity. This is a class specifically designed for the beg/int student, but we encourage the advanced student to come and join class at any time.

Hip Hop
Class Description
Beginning Hip Hop This class are designed for dancers with no prior experience. The class includes a thorough warm-up, strength elements, hip hop progressions, and a short routine The focus is placed mostly on style and loosely on technique.
Beg/Int Hip Hop Learn to dance like you see in the latest. music video clips. Students will learn technique, style and choreographed routine geared toward a dance concert. Selected dancers will be invited to perform in the Ariel Dance Productions' annual concert.
Intermediate Hip Hop A challenging Funk for your feet. The class covers street dance moves such as: hip hop, popping, locking, hitting, jamming to name a few. Don't be surprised if you find yourself being the center of attention the next time you are groovin' on the dance floor at your favorite club.

Jazz
Class Description
Beg/Int Jazz This class is for students with some background in dance, although not necessarily experience in jazz. Students will continue to work on technique, balance, strength, coordination, jumps, turns, and short combinations.
Intermediate Fusion Jazz This is a high-energy class that focuses on warm-up, across the floor work, multiple turns, and complex dance combinations: Afro Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Traditional styles. Students can expect fun, high energy music, experienced teacher and a great workout!

LYRICAL
Class Description
Beginning Lyrical This class focuses on teaching dancers about creative expression and it's a cross between Ballet and Jazz.. Our teachers achieve this by instructing students to tell the story of a piece of music through their movements. We recommend this class be taken in conjunction with Ballet.
Beginning/Intermdiate Lyrical An opportunity for the dancer and the music to become one entity. A combination of classical jazz, ballet, and contemporary technique fused with what the dancer brings from within. A fantastic "introductory" to the world of dance, but also a class for the intermediate, and advanced student. All are welcome!

MUSICAL THEATRE
Class Description
Musical Theatre A class with a focus on presentation and ensemble dancing to musical shows such as "Chorus Line", "Hair", "Rent", etc.... The class consists of a warm-up, progressions with an emphasis on turns, positioning of the body, jumps, and moving within the space and a routine. A class that prepares the dancer for the stage. All are welcome!

SELF-DEFENSE (RAPESAFE)
Class Description
Self-Defense (RAPESAFE) The RAPESAFE program, created by the Gracie family teaches women the necessary tools to survive and escape a threatening situation. RAPESAFE not only empowers a woman physically with simple, effective techniques for an escape, but also psychologically and emotionally by enabling her to maintain the presence of mind necessary to recognize or create an opportunity to get away.

The techniques are designed to help any woman escape from her attacker, whether she is on her feet or on the ground. The techniques of RAPESAFE are not based on strikes, as are most other self-defense courses for women. Strikes offer very little chance for success against an assailant who is most likely going to be bigger, stronger and capable of hitting back. Furthermore, they are useless on the ground, which is where the attacker will usually carry out his assault.

The escape moves of RAPESAFE are based on leverage and technique and do not require strength, speed or coordination. The philosophy is that every woman, regardless of her age, size, strength, or fitness level can learn to effectively defend herself against a physical assault by practicing in an adrenaline-accelerated state.

Turns, Jumps and Leaps This class is designed for students to help you improve overall dance performance and skill. You will learn challenging turns, leaps, jumps, kicks and strengthening, and stretching activities.

ZUMBA FITNESS
Class Description
Zumba Fitness This Zumba class incorporates nightclub moves from Latin dance styles such as salsa, cha cha, cumbia, flamenco, reggaetone,samba, merenge and hip hop. Students pump their legs, gyrate their hips, slide and spin to a sensuous Latin beat. You can burn from 500 to 800 calories in a single class while toning your abs, buttocks, legs and arms. The fun club dance steps and dynamic Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that will keep you coming back for more!
