Ballet
Class Description
Basic Ballet Drill fundamental ballet exercises without the pressure of learning complicated choreography. Work on strengthening and stretching all muscle groups to achieve a dancer’s body and ballet lines. Great for beginning dancers who want to learn the basics and develop proper ballet form. Also useful for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to focus on their technique.

Class format includes warm up and quick stretch, technique drills, floor work, stretching, break down a difficult ballet step and cool down.

Belly DANCE, BOLLYWOOD
Class Description
Beginning
Break Dance

B-boy/B-girl (Breakdancing) is an athletic dance form which uses your whole body. You will learn the history and origins of breaking, technique, toprocks, footwork, transitions, freezes and most importantly, how to rock a beat. If possible, bring knee pads, hats/beanies, elbow pads.

Bollywood

Bollywood dance has been India's most entertaining and popular form of dance for several decades. It mashes in a unique blend of dances from different parts of the country including Indian folk, classical and is also inspired from western dance forms. Typical Bollywood dances are on songs from popular Hindi (Indian) movies.

Break Dance

CONTEMPORARY, CONTEMPORARY BALLET, LYRICAL JAZZ
Class Description
Contemporary Dance Contemporary Dance fuses ballet, modern dance and it draws from other philosophies of movement that are outside the realm of classical dance technique. This style can be danced to almost any type of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.
Beginning-Intermediate Contemporary Ballet Contemporary ballet is a form of dance ifluenced by both ballet and modern dance. It takes its technique from classical ballet, although it permits a greater range of movement that may not adhere to the strict body lines set forth by schools of ballet technique. Many of its concepts come from the ideas and innovations of modern dance including floorwork, balletic movements and and turn-in of the legs.
Beginning/Intermediate Lyrical Jazz

Lyrical is a cross between jazz and ballet. The dancer often shows an interpretation of the music. Dancers will learn to demonstrate these movements by use of balance, extension, and contemporary movements.

Beginning-Intermediate Modern Dance

Drawing upon aspects of Limón and release technique, this class emphasizes on minimizing tension in the search for clarity and fluidity and efficient use of energy and breath. In release technique, the dancer release through the joints and muscles to create ease of movement. In this class, the technical component will focus on alignment, breathing, balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, endurance, patterning, conditioning and agility. The creative component will focus on movement experimentation, individual expression, translating ideas into movement, and performance artistry.

HIP HOP

Beginning
Hip Hop
This class is designed for dancers with no prior experience and it includes a warm-up, hip hop progressions, and a short routine . The focus is placed mostly on style and loosely on technique.
Beg/Int
Hip Hop
Learn to dance like you see in the latest. music video clips. Students will learn technique, style and choreographed routine geared toward a dance concert. Selected dancers will be invited to perform in the Ariel Dance Productions' annual concert.

Intermediate Hip Hop A challenging Funk for your feet. The class covers street dance moves such as: hip hop, popping, locking, hitting, jamming to name a few. Don't be surprised if you find yourself being the center of attention the next time you are groovin' on the dance floor at your favorite club.

Jazz, LYRICAL, MUSICAL THEATRE, THEAtrical jazz
Class Description
Beginning-Intermediate Jazz This class is for students with some background in dance, although not necessarily experience in jazz. Students will continue to work on technique, balance, strength, coordination, jumps, turns, and short combinations.
Intermediate Jazz

This is a high-energy class that focuses on warm-up, across the floor work, multiple turns, and complex dance combinations: Afro Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Traditional styles. Students can expect fun, high energy music, experienced teacher and a great workout!

Lyrical Jazz

Lyrical dance style draws from ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance. This dance style dance is expressive, subtle, dynamic, and it focuses on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. It is a combination of intricate, highly technical, and pedestrian/naturalistic moves. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals as well as rich instrumental portions of a pop song.

Musical Theatre Basics (ages 8-14)

Learn all the basics of being a musical theater performer! Learn fun acting scenes, acting games, dancing and singing. This is a class for young adults just beginning to develop their acting skills, projecting techniques, memorization capabilities, and singing projection.

Musical Theatre
(Teens/adults)

This performance-oriented class is for those interested in improving stage presence, singing skills, and movement/dance skills. Adult students work on excerpts from standard musical theater repertoire. No prior experience is required.

Theatrical Jazz

This high-energy class trains students in acting for the stage and jazz dance technique to communicate a story to the audience. The structure includes warm-up, progressions (across the floor), skill building, drills and center work with an emphasis on staying in character. Frequently inspired by blending pop-culture with award winning musicals and movies of the past, students may be exposed to a combination of dance styles such as hip-hop, show cheer and vaudeville. Students can expect fun, upbeat music, an experienced teacher and entertainment driven choreography.

SHOW CHOIR
Class Description

Show Choir

If you have watched “Glee” and wanted to sing and dance in a show choir of your own, this is the class for you! The Show Choir class provides an outstanding opportunity for you to gain experience in this genre. You will develop greater musicianship, proper use of breath support, phrasing, interpretation, postures, stage presence, and other disciplines needed to put on a great show choir performance. 

All men’s and women’s voice parts and all levels of singing experience are welcome. No prior show choir experience is required to join this class. Our goal with the Show Choir class is to create an environment of peers where everyone becomes comfortable in their own skill sets and are supportive in bringing out the best in each other. Most importantly, we will have loads of fun.

 

TAP
Class Description

Beginning Tap

This beginning tap class teaches classic tap fundamentals and terminology, coordination and basic tap choreography with an emphasis on rhythm and the musical theater performing style. Using a combination of classic tap progressions, center work and repetition, students will build a strong tap foundation and develop showmanship abilities.

Intermediate Tap

Intermediate tap dance technique and choreography class will focus more on intricate footwork, help tap dancers develop speed, clarity, greater showmanship and beautiful sound quality.  Designed to refine existing tap skills this class puts the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Students will also enjoy learning choreography that blends a variety of tap styles such as Stomp, Showboat, Musical Theatre and Rhythmic.
